KEVIN MACKAY DIGITAL MARKETING
Back in 1999 I was working as a Senior Account Executive for a large, well known internet business directory. The internet was still in its infancy and I realised its potential very quickly.
I decided I wanted to learn how to build a website and launched my first one later that year. It wasn’t great if I’m honest..! I began developing it however and, within a couple of years, it was attracting over 3500 visitors every day. Friends and family then started asking me if I could build them a website and, before long, I realised that I had a bit of a talent for designing and building websites. So, I quit my job and started working for myself. Since then I’ve been swimming in the digital marketing waters. First as a web design business and now as a digital marketing service provider.
So, is Kevin just one more digital marketing company?
First and foremost, I am a one-man-team. I intend to keep it such as long as possible. If I allow other people to take part in my projects it’s because I want to make sure my clients get the best possible quality of service at all times and sometimes that means turning to trusted associates.
Does this mean Kevin is an anti-corporate kind of guy?
No, I founded and run KM Digital Marketing, but I like to do corporate things in my own way. As a predominantly one-man operation, I’m in a unique position to keep in touch with small business owners such as myself. That’s something I deeply care about.
Marketers can be quite boring ego maniacs who know all there is to know. Is Kevin one of them?
Digital marketing has been a part of my life for almost twenty years. Yet, I don’t claim to have seen and done it all. Digital marketing is constantly evolving and staying on top of these changes is what makes me tick.
Besides unlocking the mysteries of the digital universe, I enjoy fishing and football. I’m pretty sure FIFA appreciates my decision to limit my passion to watching football as a fan rather than to embarrass myself as a player. Formula 1 is also a passion of mine and one that I’ve followed for over 30 years. Of course, you can’t be a digital marketer if you aren’t a video games addict too, can you? My PS4, Xbox One and Gaming PC keep me entertained and help me unwind after a long day of reports, graphs and code…
Are you a magician Kevin?
No, I’m not, and I don’t give my clients a false hope that digital marketing is a single solution for all of their business problems. But, I do believe in the magic of digital marketing. I get a buzz out of watching a website rise in the search rankings as a result of the work that I do. That’s why I intend to stay in digital marketing for the next 20+ years.
